[BREW] Pagans And Politics

October/8/2009

autumn moonTHE BOOK. It’s in progress!  With a couple of helpful insights from my writer’s group chicas, it’s going well.  I have three weekends mostly to myself to make heavy progress.  I’m excited!

MABON. OldeForest had a gloriously wonderful Mabon celebration.  We re-enacted the Abduction of Persephone.  It was spectacular and moving, both for those of us stepping into ancient roles and those participating.  I might be able to post a couple of pictures at some point.  Autumn Heartsong took some beautiful ones of our rehearsal!

AND MERRY MEET AGAIN.  With barely a breath taken after the Mabon celebration, the descent into the dark half of the year began with the death of a beloved member of our local community.  From the ICU waiting area to the chapel where the Celebration of Life ceremony was held, I and other people who loved this dear young man gathered to provide support to his family and to each other and to honor an unforgettable person.  I have a post I’m working on regarding the events surrounding his crossing… it’s just taking me a little time to pull it together.  As I said to someone in the waiting room on the morning of his death, isn’t it wonderful that we follow a path that does not see death as something to be feared or an ultimate end with no hope of reconnection?  Isn’t it beautiful that, for us, Death is but a door and there is Life to be found on both sides?

I GOT BETTER. I believe I am officially over the flu.  Please be careful with yourself this year.  If you start getting a severe sore throat with all your sinus congestion and a low fever, get to the doctor.  This flu is marked by one of the most severe sore throats I’ve ever had, but it’s the congestion and the inability to breathe caused by the congestion that can land you in the hospital.

AND IT’S ALL GOING TO GET BETTER. The last month for me has been really difficult.  Thirty-days-straight of more energy expended than taken in with Murphy and his damned rule-book at the helm of a ship I thought I was steering.  Things are looking up, and speaking of looking up…

WELCOME, AUTUMN! It is the season of bliss.  Get outside!  Do things that make you feel alive and that allow you to capture a few moments of the season.  The descent into Night has begun.  You don’t have to go gently, but I do suggest having fun!

  • Lovely to see you gracing the pages here once again! And I’m THRILLED that the book is in progress. I’ll go to McKay’s (THE place locally to swap and acquire books and such) and trade in something to make room on the shelf. ::grin:: As prolifically as you write, I might ought to go this afternoon!

    Love to ya, mighty woman…

  • I was thrilled to find a new post from you today, I have missed you and was a little worried because of your bout with the flu. I’m glad you are back on your feet and feeling good again.
Can’t wait until your book if finished. I hope Murphy leaves you alone now so you can get it finished. Turn his plate upside down, lol, sometimes that works for me.
Blessings and good health dear friend.

  • Welcome back, love. We’ve missed you. :)

  • I am so happy to see that you are doing well! I was scared that the flu hit worse than expected and things were rough going. I was beginning to think that you weren’t coming back. I’ll light a candle of remembrance for your friend, my respects to his family.
But as for Muphy…he has delighted in tormenting me to the point that I was helping him out myself this past month! So I showed him the door just recently! I hope he hasn’t taken up camp there! I have a whole area cleared out for your books; bring em on!
    Peace and Blessings :~)

  • Is it strange that I can tell how you are doing by your blog. I’m with everyone else, glad to see new articles.

  • Amen everyone. I too was worried, and a little sad to see you hadn’t posted in a while. I lost a friend too on the 1st of October. I don’t know about everyone else, but this year seemed fraught with Murphy’s Law and any one else whose job it is to make my life chaotic. Hecate seemed to pass too close too many times since July to leave me comfortable. I know that death is not an end to the one who dies, but damned if it doesn’t feel like an end to me, the one who is left behind. Anyway, It’s wonderful to hear all of your voices everyone, take very good care of yourselves, and if you feel even a hint of sickness coming on take your share of Zinc supplements!

  • Good Grief! This has been such a hard dance! Okay! for all who still have Murphy hanging around hoping to apply his brand of nature! Tonight, before going to bed set a place setting on your table and place it in the guests place! Place the setting upside down-including the silver. Leave it there for 1 entire day and night and remove, wash, and put away. Open the door, and say this; “You came to visit Murphy, but tried to stay. Your visit is over, now go away!” Show him the door. The upside down place setting shows that he is no longer welcome; when you wash and put it away, you literally take his power away, in your house, mind and heart. This is going to work great because it is on a waning Moon, and by the new Moon it will be complete! Till the next time, but it works for me! Avre., I also lit a candle of Remembrance for your friend and my respects to the family, Avren. Gosh stay strong everyone! This is honest and truly going to get better.

  • Glad to hear you are feeling better, sounds like it was a nasty one. Sorry to hear about your friend but it sounds like they had a supportive close community. As a writer myself I know how good it must feel to be moving forward with your book, wishing you great success. What is the book about?
    peace
