[BREW] Pagans And Politics

September/18/2009

medusa-snow1I have been embroiled in a vicious battle with the flu.  I have prevailed — and used up all my sick and annual leave at work — but now, my daughter has come down with it.  Her flu test was positive this afternoon, but (good Mommy points for me!) I caught it within the first 24 hours of onset and it’s treatable.  She shouldn’t get dragged through the mucus-y mess I went through this week.  Thanks to an expensive prescription of  TamiFlu, that is.  $117.00 for 10 pills.  What’s up with that?

Needless to say, I’ve been more concerned with keeping my lungs properly inserted in my chest cavity than in blogging, writing, or any other -ing involving a computer.  I hope to get back into the swing over the next 3-4 days since my house is under official quarantine — doctor’s orders — until Monday evening.  Fortunately, I think my daughter is looking forward to having a few days of movie-watching, puzzle-solving, book-reading, craft-making, soup-slurping, super-snuggling Mommy-Daughter time.

Come to think of it, I am, too.  *smile*

Other things on my To-Do list include finishing the Mabon ritual script and prepping for our Mabon celebration next Sunday.  I extended an open invitation to folks.  I think the event has turned into a mini-gathering.  It’s going to be awesome, though… superbly fun!

Thanks for your kind thoughts and continued stop-bys to see if I’ve written anything.  I’ve been warmly snuggled by the love and anticipation from afar.  Special thank-you to dear Heartsong who brought by home-made Curry-Lentil soup last night for me and the young’un to eat.  We slurped down the warm and savory stew and ah!  It was bliss!

So good, in fact, that my daughter said at the doctor’s office (when she found out she was out of school through Tuesday):  “Yay!  That means I get to go home and eat more of that soup!”

Guess I’m glad I asked for that recipe last night, eh?

  • Goddess and Gods Be Praised! I’m so glad that you’re on the mend now!. As far as the TamiFlu it’s called the law of supply and demand and we are in the midst of a Pandemic. Just take it easy and rest lots and…well you know the routine! Let me know if there is anything I can do ,Hon. We all Love and Miss Ya and give your daughter a lovin squeeze from all us too and get well!
    Peace and Blessings

  • I’m glad the soup was a hit…little one wasn’t too sure about it last night when she first saw it!

    Rest well!

  • May you both get rest and feel better soon! *hugs and blessings*

  • There is NOTHING like homemade soup to make you feel good. I’m glad you are on the mend. A guy I work with has had it for almost a month and is still having a hard time with feeling right. Take good care and I hope you all feel better soon. Now if you’ll excuse me I’m going to get some echinacea tea

    • Aw Avren ! Did you get the flu also? Good Night! seems like everyone is coming down with it! I got a really mild version of it because I caught a really bad version of it in the 70’s! So that helps in some immunity. Gosh everyone! Please be careful! Eats lots of soups and get plenty of fluids! And when you’re on the mend, take it real slow. It takes a long time to get back up on your feet for some…if this is the case don’t push too hard too soon. Plenty of rest. I wish I could be there to help you all through this! Get some eucalyptis oil and wipe things down around your house because it is anti-microbial in it’s properties and helps to relieve congestion. Gosh there’s lots of stuff that you can do. Blessings to Heartsong for her Curry!

      • No I’m fine, but thanks for the cheer anyway! I’ll drink the tea to build immunity. I don’t want to get that mess. (Crosses fingers) I had a terrible flu about five years ago and *luckily* I haven’t had one as bad since!

  • Sitara, I hope you and your daughter are both all better soon! Enjoy those snuggles…they grow so fast….
